During the annual conference in 2019, the team announced that Edge will also be available on Linux, and during Microsoft Ignite 2020 in October, they came through with their promise and announced the availability of Microsoft Edge on Linux as a dev preview. Click through the first-time setup welcome screens, then Edge will be ready to use.Microsoft has been working on the new and improved version of Edge which is now based on the Chromium browser. Note: While Edge is in the pre-release channels it may not be completely stable, and some features may not be functional. Once you’ve configured these, you’re good to go. When you first launch Edge, you’ll get a few welcome screens covering telemetry data and some browser settings. Launch Edge like you would any other application. Once the installation is complete, launch Edge like you would any other application. ![]() Run the installer and click “Install Package”. Tip: You will be able to update Edge with your normal package manager once you’ve installed it. This will add the Microsoft repositories to your repository list, then download the package. Once the package is downloaded, run it, and click “Install Package”. deb package to install the Edge browser on Linux. ![]() Tip: Edge is also available in the RPM package format for RedHat based Linux operating systems. deb file for the “Dev Channel” or the “Beta Channel” when it becomes available. You can download and install Edge from Microsoft’s “Insider” website here.
